Teachers, students, the Educational system & our nation (India)
1) Classes should be conducted not only in school but it can also be conducted in museums, planetariums, clay modelling, farm, picture gallery, parks etc.
- Children see things with their own imagination when they hear any story or theory. It would be the greatest learning experience when they have been taught about the solar system and if that class will be conducted in the planetarium it would be a life learning experience for them. They can actually understand how actually it works, what is an orbit, what is galaxy etc. In the case of windmills, it will be the same when they visit a farm or wind farm, such visits will enhance their learning. During the botany class, they should visit the park, and botanical garden to touch and feel the real elements of the plants.
When it comes to physical fitness, It should be taught how to chop a branch of a tree or how to remove unwanted bushes rather than teaching them to spend a specific time on the treadmill in the gym.
Above mentioned examples are given by considering the Indian education system in mind.
2) Cultural exchange program should be increased from primary grade where interschool visits, activities, accessing other school's learning facilities like language laboratories, libraries etc.
Here, the majority of the cultural exchange program is done at the college level during graduation which is limited to only a few disciplines. At the school level (primary), it is not that popular. It would be great if schools are promoting such kinds of activities where they will give them new avenues to explore different methods, conditions, challenges, and ideas for learning. such experiences will help them to see every aspect of life with multiple outlooks/dimensions etc. These will add a great value of empathy and make him/her a better citizen/human being. They exchange their ideas and work on solutions, they start working on common problems with unity etc.
The above points are mentioned here considering India in mind. We need such reformative education/academic initiatives to make our education system more meaningful which should be linked with real-life learning rather than just good marks being viewed as a success.
