Every day we face bigger and bigger problems, yet we believe in the power of our collective imagination to change the world. IWC believes in giving people confidence in their own ability to create and innovate. The world's largest brainstorming unites cities, countries, and continents with a common social purpose. The objective of this 2022 year is “How might we inspire creativity in education?" Creativity is an essential life skill. It is critical to solving the world's most challenging problems. We believe that creativity is a powerful and foundational skill that must be defended in educational ecosystems globally. This year #IWC2022 is sponsored by the BIC Foundation, a benchmark in promoting creativity in education in the world.

The culture in which we learn is critical to our learning and development outcomes. We want to inspire a movement that intentionally builds creative cultures as a foundation for optimal learning.
• What sort of cultures are needed to make creativity flourish?
• How might we build learning environments and develop creative spaces that drive the development of creative skills in our education systems?
• In what ways can we use language to support the building of creative cultures?
• What are the most critical elements of creativity that a creative culture needs to embrace and champion?
• How might we develop a change-oriented culture of learning that embraces creativity at the heart of the learning process?
Creativity has the potential to solve some of the biggest environmental challenges facing our planet.
• How might we use creativity in education to work on the most challenging environmental issues facing our planet?
• What local issues is your community facing related to climate change? How might creativity in education help you to solve a specific environmental problem at the local level?
• In what ways can you harness the power of creativity to tackle the biggest challenges outlined in the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals?
Our schools, colleges, universities, and formal education systems are only one part of the education ecosystem. Just as critical are the informal learning systems that come from participation in our community groups, work with our not-for-profit organizations and the influence parents and mentors have on the development of our kids. We believe our education systems should inspire our kids to become lifelong learners, and that creativity is an essential building block to promote that mindset.
For educators:
• How should our formal learning ecosystems evolve to harness the power of creativity and amplify the development of creative skills?
• How might we tap into non-formal learning environments to build and develop creative skills?
• How can we use creativity to inspire a mindset of lifelong learning?
• How might we revolutionize teacher training and development to drive more creativity in the classroom?
• How can we build recognition of the importance of creativity across all subjects (e.g. math, science, etc.) not just the arts?
• How might we use creativity to counter school drop out and re-engage students proactively in their own learning outcomes?
For parents:
• How might we convince parents that the development of creative skills is essential in the education of their kids?
• How might we make tools and resources readily available to parents, and encourage their active involvement in their kids’ development?
• How might we creatively build a parent-student partnership that encourages families to do creative acts together as part of a lifelong learning mindset?
For policymakers:
• How can we influence policymakers and curriculum developers to recognize the importance of creativity as an essential part of our learning curriculums?
• How might we influence policymakers to champion creativity in the development of the curriculum?
• How might we link the language of creativity into our education curriculum and processes?
For students:
• How might we build networks of collaboration for students to celebrate and share their creative skills across the globe?
• How might we build a Youth Community of Practice to harness the power of students to build their own learning creativity ecosystem?
• What role might technology play in supporting our students in their creative learning?
• How might we harness alternative media (film, radio, arts, design) to inspire our kids to develop their own creative skills?
We believe that creativity can help address some of our most challenging issues of equity and inclusion in education globally.
• How might we harness the power of creativity to build more equitable and inclusive learning environments?
• How can we develop creativity as a value to make the world a more inclusive, open, and equitable place?
• How can we use creativity to address systemic challenges of bias in our education system?
• How might we harness creativity to build education solutions that fix access to education in disadvantaged and underserved populations?
We believe that creativity in education can be amplified by building a strong network of passionate change makers globally. We have established a Creativity Community of Practice that exists to celebrate, amplify and champion creativity in education across the world. We want to build on our existing coalition and recruit members globally to collaborate on this critical topic.
• How might we build a global network of practitioners, educators, artists, researchers and professionals to accelerate the importance of creativity in education?
• How might we support our Community of Practice with online tools and resources that harness our ability to collaborate and learn from each other?
• What would you like to get from a global Community of Practice that would support creativity in your own education or that of your students?
• How might we create a network of creativity catalysts in our schools and higher education institutions to amplify and promote our work?
