All participants add their ideas, inspired by virtual events held around the world by local organizers in each city. The city with the most ideas will receive the award for the most creative city.
Our society loves competition and events where you see extraordinary acts of courage or demonstrations of brilliance. These events are often magnified by media outlets which helps solidify the importance in our society.
We need a Creativity Olympics that is broadcasted nationally and internationally to showcase and make widely-visible attention to the creative thinking skills. Similar to the influence reality competition shows have fostered (“Britain's Got Talent”, “Shark Tank”, “American Idol” or the like), this would provide a platform for shaping the way the world views creativity in schools.
The focus of this Olympics would specifically target STUDENTS AGES 10-14. Why? Dr. Cyndi Burnett mentioned that this is the age in which children tend to gravitate towards conformity. The age focus would be intended to make the creativity skills something students might see as the “conformity” desire. One day I want to be a Creativity Olympian!
