All participants will add their ideas, inspired by virtual events held around the world by the local organizers of each city. The one with the most ideas will receive the award for the most creative city.
The Tourism Industry will face more than 50% sustained revenue loss between the 2nd and 4th Quarters of 2020. To illustrate a few examples, the World Travel and Tourism Council suffers a global loss of 75 million jobs and $2.1 trillion in revenue. As of April 2, British Airways was reported to suspend 36,000 staff. This can have catastrophic impact on the future of this Industry, which may be abandoned due to the severe loss it is currently facing. I have come up with a technological idea which will form a chain reaction of solving the entire eeconomic crisis by just solving the detrimental loss of the Tourism Industry.
Tourism companies can sell VR Headsets to the public, and provide them with completely remote, drone-controlled tours of the several attractions across the globe. To engage more customers, tourism companies must set up fun activities and competitions such as treasure hunts in the Taj Mahal, for example. The initial costs will be high, but high profit can soon be expected, with low running costs - as the drones are powered via renewable forms of energy such as solar energy (now that summer is approaching in the Northern Hemisphere). Therefore, it will not deplete any natural resources and the waste products during the manufacturing of the drones and VR headsets are 100% recyclable. The low running xosts will enable thee Tourism Industry to receive excellent income. The Government will then tax a certain, variable percentage of this income based on the amount/quantity of the income (so not to over-tax or under-tax), for use in investing in other essential, key industries such as the healthcare industry to manufacture more PPEs etc. Therefore, this will not only benefit tourism, but the entire economy as well.
