Increased reliance on online delivery during Covid crisis due to local shops being closed - and in particular, the impacts of more van deliveries as packages make 'the final mile' journey to the consumer - closest to residential areas and town centres. Green Delivery
Big online suppliers (ie those who dominate the market) must offer option of 'Green Delivery' on their websites for shipping. This will be cheaper than the usual shipping costs, because the consumer will go and fetch the package before it is carried 'the final mile' to his/her door. (Most delivery costs are accrued in the final mile/s of delivery when population is denser/roads more busy). Smaller 'Green Delivery' distribution centres created within reach of residential areas. Shoppers walk/run/cycle to pick up parcel & cut the cost of delivery - no car parking allowed at these Green Delivery centres.
