All participants add their ideas, inspired by virtual events held around the world by local organizers in each city. The city with the most ideas will receive the award for the most creative city.
The idea is to psychoeducate adolescents about mental health.
It is a workshop that entails:
1) Stats on Mental Health Globally
2) The Foundation to Mental Health including eating balanced meals, regular exercise, quality sleep and limited screen time.
3) The psychology of self which includes motivation, self-esteem, developmental phases and brain profiling.
Brain profiling is a tool developed by Dr Kobus Neethling to determine in which brain quadrant you are dominant in (left brain more analytical and problem seeking results) (right brain more out the box creative and emotional) by knowing your preference you know how you engage with others, communicate, learn and study.
4) We then move into mindfulness. The importance of daily Journaling, goal setting and self reflection. Meditation but with a creative art therapy approach and then delving into purpose.
5) Dr Susan David developed Emotional Agility and we use her skills to assist adolescents in unpacking their emotions as well as explaining boundaries.
6) We then delve into World renowned therapist Marisa Peer's Rapid Transformational Therapy that combines Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Neurolinguistics and hypnosis to go to the root cause of adolescents problems and with this offer counseling and coaching.
This workshop and all the tools can be used for adults, parents, teachers and students as young as 5.
Becoming both emotionally intelligent and resilient will ensure people can deal with our ever changing world.
All tools, coaching and counseling is based on the latest research and science in neuroscience. Both Brain Profiling and RTT is based on neuroscientific approaches to healing and building both resilience and emotional intelligence.
It would be wonderful if schools can run these workshops as part of their life orientation classes or if psychology or mindful emotional intelligence and resilience could be a subject in schools.
For corporate companies this workshop can be incorporated into corporate wellness.
Becoming emotionally intelligent and building resilience based on neuroscientific methods for children, teenagers, young adults and older adults. Schools and Corporate companies.
The workshop can benefit anyone wanting to learn new coping skills to deal with anxiety, depression and any other mental health issues.
1) An online system that makes our workshop accessible on a global scale. I am talking to numerous developers to find out what the best and cheapest method to do this is.
2) The creative meditation or mindfulness part of the program needs to have a few art supplies that are not too costly so individuals can buy them on their side.
3) Psychoeducation is key to what we deliver so it's about making it available on an online platform.
1) Chelaine Barnard - Degree in psychology, Rapid Transformational and brain profile practitioner.
2) Louisa Maree - Batchelor degree in business administration majoring in project management and also a brain profile practitioner.
3) Jonathan Parr - IT Developer
4) Karen Gray and Deon Lensing - They run the Antibullying Academy and NPO in South Africa
5) Priscilla Pilger - Marketing person.
5) Numerous resources from teachers to psychologists to motivational speakers at hand who are invested in our vision and purpose.
1) We are currently running in-person workshops which started in May and looking at a monthly wellness day at different venues.
2) Want to move into schools from July and am in the process of talking to Curro in South Africa.
3) Development of the online platform may take 6 months to perfect. Looking at WordPress as a platform.
4) Our Social Media is already up and running and has a marketing team.
The workshop embraces all 6 pillars of Emotional Intelligence and resilience with unique tools like brain profiling and Rapid Transformational Therapy. Both tools are based on the latest research in neuroscience and delve into what it means to be human. The world needs to know how to cope with the world the way it is today and we come in and assist anyone in a holistic yet up to date manner. Our workshop is beneficial for any age, race, sex, or religion so it includes anyone that needs assistance.
The workshop is already running in the Garden Route in South Africa but wants to expand online globally.
More workshops will be run in the rest of South Africa in the next 6 months.
Staff members and owners of Directed Potential are all highly educated not just with degrees but life experience because each tool discussed has been scientifically as well as life proven to work and have an impact on mental health in enhancing both resilience and emotional intelligence. When a person can become mindful, emotionally agile and have a toolkit of coping skills then the environment that they find themselves in does not make a difference because they will know how to deal with it.
Directed Potential is in the process of registering an NPO with the potential of having many corporate companies invest in this idea.
Knowledge is power and that is why we started this workshop.

Posted on 26/05/2022It would have helped me so much in my early years if I had something like this at school. I think its a very important part of development that not all teachers or even parents know how to address. Great idea especially the creative side.

Posted on 26/05/2022I love this workshop, I love this idea, I love the direct impact this programme will have on the real core struggles society is struggling with currently on a ongoing basis. Right now I think that most of the world is missing the boat with regards to mental health and education, highly due to the mainstream media and the way daily issues are potrayed... We are all in shock, we are all in pain we all have a past but we need to remember that we all have a future and that can directly be positively affected with this programme. We have all been desensitized to all of these life issues because of all the fear, all the pain, all the movies, insane documentaries and crazy social standards that it is now more than ever that our lifestyles needs to be reset completely, not just a shift but a revolution needs to take place within each parent, each child, each person. ... Yes, every single one of us. Mental, Emotional, Physical and Spiritual Health needs to be radicated so that all the trauma, the fear, the pain, the toxins and pollutants, lies, deception, greed... Yes all the things that not just confuses us as adults but also our children needs to be prioritized in order to safe the essence of self love, exeptance, accountabillity, productivity and the sence of value and purpose in this world toward ourselves and those around us. We got to get back to real core family values, consideration, patience, understanding, honest love, trust, kindness, real education and real parenting.... in every aspect of ones life. This to me is a urgency!! We need Chelaine and her team we need Direct Potential and it is in my opinion no better time than right NOW???????????????????? Thank you Chelaine for achieving this remarkable goal and success as you are the change to a beaten world with Direct Potential as the healing hand

Posted on 26/05/2022I wish we had this in school when was a kid. My parents never believed in mental illness and I never had the support or understanding of what I was going through. Our children today face unprecedented challenges and I believe that having the tools available to face these challenges mentally and emotionally will not only empower them to make the right choices for themselves but for their fellow man/woman too. Knowledge is power and power in the correct hands can bring the change in the world we so desperately need. After years of struggles I am finally in the perfect mindset to face all of my challenges head on, this was self taught and changing my path to a more mindfulness one. We owe it to our society to gift them the tools to cope in this ever evolving world. I believe Directed Potential is on the right and smart path to evolution.

Posted on 26/05/2022The pandemic has shown us how important it is to be resilient and to persevere mentally through hard times. Every school should allow their students the opportunity to learn the skills that this programme would provide to help them with their mental health and understanding of themselves within any given situation. I think it is fundamental in this day and age that children are provided with this opportunity. As well as this, normal school issues can be alleviated through a deeper understanding of themselves, other personalities and the impact it has on individuals exposed to challenging situations. This is a much needed addition and can only benefit the recipients.

Posted on 26/05/2022Brilliance right there!!! As a victim of bullying in primary school and physical, emotional and verbal abuse as an adult, I absolutely root for this project at foundation phase and can definitely recommend it across all avenues mentioned, for roll-out. It will stand us in good stead for generations to come, by dealing with the root cause from the onset and alleviating the impact further down the line. I can confidently attest that the concept is effective and addresses the underlying issues that we sub consciously file and hope it goes away! That thinking right there, robs us of ever being EQ savvy and living our purpose to full potential. It all starts with 'you' , so developing emotionally healthier beings and mending where there is damage done, will most certainly be of immense value to our society. An emotionally healthy society will create ripples across all facets of our existence, bringing about, harmonious change. Well done Chelaine and team, my review speaks to the inexplicable gratitude that I nestle in a very special place in my heart ❤️!

Posted on 26/05/2022This is a well designed, sustainable social change strategy. A digital platform will enable psycho educational techniques to reach far beyond immediate attendee’s and foster ongoing community sharing. Mental health and well-being is a significant issue in a developing country such as South Africa, hence this project addresses a critical gap. Having enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with Chelaine in the past, it can be said with certainty that her passion for psychology, determination and action focused methodology will lead this, and any, project to success.

Posted on 26/05/2022Mental health….the unspoken of…the silent killer. Raising mental health awareness at a young age will most definitely contribute to our society as a whole. What a significant tool it would be to address your mental mood and trace the source. In todays immense trying times we all need this program.

Posted on 26/05/2022I am the guy who never leaves reviews. However this is one time I really wanted to, Directed potential is more than another coaching consultancy. They are a powerhouse team, who deeply consider the emotional well being of everyone they come into contact with. Chelaine is a real inspiration to me, someone who overcame tough challenges yet has so much time to invest in people. Directed Potential definitely had a positive influence on my entire reflection of self. That helped me level up in my professional and personal life. Big ups to Chelaine & Directed Potential team for making a difference in the, emotional well being space, especially when the world needs it most. ????

Posted on 26/05/2022I am so excited about this!! Kids are struggling to cope mentally in this challenging world. They have tremendous pressure both academically and socially. Mental health is very important for everybody, both grownups and children. The mass murder of little kids in America makes it abundantly clear that we need this in our schools urgently! Keep up this wonderful work!

Posted on 26/05/2022Mental Health is perhaps as important or more than Physical & Spiritual To be able to identify all these silent saboteurs and to learn to combat and soak in Grace is a privilege and the right place to be in our modern society To be able to clean both inside and out and maintain a balanced happy life & well being can only assist our education and social interaction with each other and society I am happy and excited and recommend this with all my heart! Love,,kindness and prosperity! Bring it on already!

Posted on 26/05/2022It took me years of denial to realise how important Mental Wellness is to an individual. That is all thanks to Directed Potential. Chelaine has been an amazing Psychologist. Had I known what I learned from her in school, I feel that I would have been more equipped for the world I have had to face. But in all honesty, better late than never. I'm starting to see Potential in myself that I never knew how to tap in to nor that I had. This would DEFINITELY be beneficial for the younger generation, as they need tools for their personal growth that tends to only be discovered at a much later stage, or sometimes when it is too late. I was almost one of the "too late". Thank you Chelaine and Directed Potential. For me, words can't express enough of my gratitude...

Posted on 26/05/2022Wow! What a step in the right direction! General mental health is so easily overlooked, raising awareness amongst the younger generation can only bring a more mindful and emotional aware future! Looking forward to see the results of this!

Posted on 25/05/2022Many countries, worldwide, are struggling with Mental Health issues at present. Suicides have never been this high, shootings at schools, places of worship and public amenities are happening of a regular basis, crime and substance abuse is on the rise. Children who have tremendous potential, are leaving schools early because they cannot cope with daily pressures and these children are lost to the economy, and the growth of countries. Over the last two years people everywhere have battled with an unprecedented pandemic – some have managed, others have not. How we react to stressful situations must change, but we do not know how because we do not have the coping tools to do so. A program like this will teach the necessary coping skills, and what is more, it will start at grass roots level – with our children who will be able to access this phenomenal way of dealing with situations. Once neural pathways have been laid down the capacity to deal with everyday tasks and even the most complicated or confronting challenges becomes less daunting. As a mother of a child who was faced with many learning difficulties, I can honestly say that without Neuro Linguistic Programming, she would not be as successful as what she is today. Every school in every country will benefit from this program.

Posted on 23/05/2022My son (16yrs) has been working with Directed Potential since 2021 and I have seen phenomenal progress in his approach towards stress and anxiety, especially during exam time. His confidence has improved and there has been a marked increase in his academic achievement. This is a wonderful programme that I, as a teacher and parent, would wholeheartedly recommend.

Posted on 23/05/2022Excellent idea! To be able to lay this foundation down to the younger generation can not only make a remarkable change in an individual but also cultivate a healthy legacy that can make a difference in the world. Well done Chelain!

Posted on 23/05/2022Applied psychology could change how we see and respond to mental health, helping children and people deal with mental health and understanding 'the why" and "the how" we react to the outside world, knowing how it affects us. Also being aware of our bodies and taking back health and wellness Not only in removing the stigma around mental health, empowerment through applied psychology will teach people to respond better to the outside world, understanding how and why our bodies react when it does Less emotional damage Vs Emotional intelligence.Through this program I believe Directed Potential can change the way our education system has been dealing with mental health Excited to see this applied

Posted on 23/05/2022Fantastic idea ! I truly believe teaching kids even the basics of psychology can help improve their mindfulness around other children as well as understand themselves a little better. In today's modern world we are constantly hearing about children with anxiety, depression, insomnia etc. By having this as a school subject it could create awareness and possibly offer children a safe space where they do not feel alone.

Posted on 23/05/2022This is something everyone should be practicing. We all need know-how when it comes to managing a modern lifestyle. Equally important is our capacity to really get to know ourselves and to be that person in our relationships, as parents and in the workplace. Well done Chelaine!
