If STEP-BY-STEP ORIENTATION BREEDS GREAT EDUCATION AND CAREER FOCUS is implemented, students at all levels will be the highest group of people to benefit from this idea. Students will have great knowledge and a clear idea of what is expected of them. This would help them to plan far ahead of time.
Institutions that implement this idea will also benefit much as their graduates will be well-oriented and focused. This would give a positive image to the general public about the institution hence increasing the number of students willing to gain entrance to the institution.
Another groups to benefit from this idea are Future employers and the Government. Graduates who are well-oriented will spend lesser time on probation or training compared to graduates who have little or no orientation. This is advantageous to employers and the government as well-oriented graduates start being productive real quick.
STEP-BY-STEP ORIENTATION BREEDS GREAT EDUCATION AND CAREER FOCUS is an idea that is intended to give students and graduates total control over their education and career path. This can only be achieved by giving them a proper orientation of what is expected of them in the future and what must be done.
Schools are expected to set aside a day every week for orientation. Students in each level would be shared into teams according to their career interests. These teams will be given assignments and projects to be carried out throughout the semester. A teacher mentor and a career mentor will also be assigned to each of these teams for follow-up.
The teacher mentor in collaboration with the career mentor will orient these students to take the right courses at their present and future levels according to their career interests. The career mentors will chip in more as they are more exposed to the professional world; such as sharing the curriculum vitae of some top professionals with the students, and communicating some software or applications that professionals of the career are expected to be able to use, and more.
Each team will have a STANDARD board or book where they set standards for all the team members and a constant follow-up is done by the teacher mentor to ensure that their team members are devoted to their activities.
At the end of every semester, schools will invite guest speakers according to their needs. These guest speakers (professionals) will throw more light and motivate the students as per the interest of the team they are assigned to.
Also, the most active and performant teams will be rewarded per semester to motivate students and advocate orientation.
