We launched the Rider4Life campaign in Pakistan and completed two phases of it, covering 4400 kilometers in 20 days and educating over 400 boys, girls, and transgender people on how to protect themselves and others from sexual harassment, abuse, and HIV/AIDS. We held community sessions to educate them about SRHR and HIV/AIDS. We will now increase our efforts on this project in order to reach and educate more people. The idea is to organize Teacher Trainings in remote areas of Pakistan and train them in LSBE (Life skills-based education) and SRHR (Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights). After the training, they will be able to teach students creatively so that students can handle their sexual reproductive health and rights mainly by their own.
We will organize Teacher Training Programs in Pakistan's most vulnerable areas, where they will be trained in LSBE (Life skills-based education) and SRHR (Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights). Our project would necessitate three major resources: logistics, the Journey4life manual, and gate keepers.
The logistics would be the same as they are for most SRHR projects, including transportation, refreshments, posters, and so on.
The dance4life manual guidebook would be an excellent resource for planning and executing structured sessions and activities.
The third is crucial because the gatekeepers will open the door for us to reach the unreachable-audience.
I believe these resources are attainable with some financial investment, but the key is to sustain them, which can only be accomplished if trained participants are motivated to educate their peers in their surroundings only if they willing to become our Agents4change.
Malik Mohsin - Trainer
My name is Malik Mohsin. I'm working with the Dance4life Netherland as a Trainer/Trainer4life. I started working in the field of SRHR when I was so young because I face a lot of problems during the puberty in field of SRHR, I still remember when I have my first Nightfall I was so confused and I don't know how to deal with it. No one wants to guide me because of the conservative mind and they think it's a Taboo we can't talk about openly on this topic then I decided to work for those people who are suffering like me. Now I have the experience of 4 Years Trainer and I'm enough capable to take the role of a Trainer in the Rider4life campaign.
Syeda Najaf Zahra Jaffri - Co-Trainer
Her name is Syeda Najaf Zahra Jaffri. She has done a Master's from Punjab University. She has 2 years of experience as a Trainer in the field of SRHR. She is very passionate about working on SRHR and LSBE.
Asim Sultan - Production Manager
My name is Asim Sultan and I'm a video maker and photographer in this campaign and as well as manage social media pages because I graduated from the University of Sargodha in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in information technology in previous two campaigns of rider4life I managed videography and photography and also maintained daily basis posts on social media pages.
Samreen Asghar - Project Officer
Samreen Asghar is the Project Officer of the Rider4Life team. She is a champion4life, a peer educator, and a qualified Researcher. In addition to the SRHR field, she is a Gender specialist that analyzes team content from an equity standpoint. Currently, she is pursuing her second master's degree in the Sociology program at Bielefeld University which is located in Germany.
Salman Khan - Administrator
Salman Khan has done his Master's in International relations From the university of Sargodha and his role in this campaign is Administrative because he is an expert in administration having 6 years of experience.
The dates are subject to participant availability, but the first phase is planned to run from June 20 to June 29, and the second from July 11 to July 20.
The idea of reaching out to young participants from northern areas is unique itself in Pakistan, as no one would dare to take on that responsibility, for a variety of reasons, including the difficulty of approaching northern areas due to their rocky mountains and extreme weather conditions. During my most recent tour with some of my team members, I conducted some two-way interactive sessions with these children and teenagers, which made me realize that 98 percent of the people had never heard of HIV, AIDS, or abuses. This was shocking to me because, over the last seven years, I've seen people gain access to information primarily through the internet and a progressive educational system, but these areas are far from basic. With my team, we have reached more than forty thousand youngsters to sensitise them on crucial issues of health and hygiene but to reach people on mountains is something that is very unique.
With my team, I hope to visit two Pakistani provinces: Punjab and Khyber Pakhtun Khuwan. Obviously, we cannot reach all of the children, especially at this early stage, but my plan is to start with the most notorious areas and then conduct interactive sessions with teachers and teens through gate keepers. The goal is to start a conversation about these issues and keep it going through peer educators cycle.
My team and I have been working on the aforementioned issues for the past seven years. This began with life skills education and progressed to include sexual reproductive health and rights. We have gained the most knowledge from SRHR active organizations such as Rutgers, D4L, IPPF, and literature, but I believe that the seven years of experience combined with that knowledge is far beyond useful. We have reached over 40,000 children in cities and villages up till now, as well as two phases of rider4life in northern areas have been already completed. The field experiences taught us how to sugarcoat highly sexualized terms in more acceptable ways, which can only be learned through local interactions. We always found some motivated teens and young people during the interactive sessions who wished to take on the responsibility of Agents4Change. We developed our connections with these agents4change through social media platforms over the years, where we will include these peers as well. The camers and social platform would be great technological source of connecting to them.
As I have mentioned earlier, we have already completed two phasses of Rider4life which activated some agents4change from the northern areas who are further educating their peers and we are still in touch with them. With the help of your organisation, our intentions are to reach school teachers and many other youngsters who can further educate their peers and students in case of teachers. For that, our future andeavour would be to engage a dedicated NGO who is already working on the similar goals from those areas so that the project could be sustain for longer.
