All participants add their ideas, inspired by virtual events held around the world by local organizers in each city. The city with the most ideas will receive the award for the most creative city.
Deprived youths and childrern between the ages of 6years -17 years in less developed conmunities and suburbs
The youth are the future leaders and they constitute the majority working force for the future . Yet most of the youth in less developed communities are engaged in Streetism , Gangs, drugs and other social vices that ends them in Juvinile detentions and correctional homes .
Sports for Development (S4D), is a design programme meant to create a platform for young people between the ages of 6-19years to fully utilise their time and energy during their vacation breaks for sporting activities. It’s an opportunity to unleash and develop talents and gifts through sports and also prepare them as agents of change for development. S4D sports disciplines will include football(Soccer), basketball, track race , swimming and table tennis
In addition to this sport disciplines there will be the introduction of Major Physical Elements (MPE) which is an 18/20 workout exercise for upper and lower body profile. This is to help the youth and children keep fit during the programme
S4D does not only emphasise on sports activities as the only discipline that will develop their talents but it will also inculcate the values of Respect, Attitude, Motivation and Team spirit which are essential elements for human development.
This will be done through our social life skills trainings, using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Focus Group Meetings (FGM) and other therapeutic programmes . This will be a 6- weeks Non -Residential Program with trained Coach Counsellors and Direct Care Officers who will serve as facilitators . This program is expected to reduce streetism and develop gifts and talents of these youths and children .
The implementation will be in two core areas.
First is provide specific skill techniques and practice in the various sport disciplines.
Second, train student athletes(youths and children ) on the social life skills needed in life as part of human development.
The programme will be non-residential. This means Student Athletes will come in the morning and participate in the programme and leave for home at the required time.
