All participants add their ideas, inspired by virtual events held around the world by local organizers in each city. The city with the most ideas will receive the award for the most creative city.
If this idea is to be implemented, the first people to benefit would be the students who would have a well defined path of studies and emeployment. The students being the backbone of the society, the welbeing will add to the economic growth and development of the country as a whole.
My main idea is to create time within the students study timetable and organise activities aimed at helping each student determine his/her domain of interest in life. It is very important for the students to know which area fascinates them because they would be willing to put in more efforts in that particular subject. It will theen be easier for each child to be creative in his/her domain of interest.
The activities here could be; brainstorming, debates, discussions or simply artistic activities. The teacher should then have a one on one talk with each kid and encourage him/her to exploit his/her potentials.
I equally came up with some other ideas that can stimulate creativity in education such as;
- Making the learning process student-oriented. That is, allowing the students to do more of the talking
- Inspire students to think out of the box and take risks in voicing out and experimenting their ideas
- organise creative displays atleast once every academic year and invite parents to come encourage the kids. It would be important to give prizes to best performances in each domain of creativity. It is well known competition brings better outcome and innovations
- As a teacher, consider every idea brought up by students and give them tips and how to develop the ideas to adapt it as solution to an identified problem in the society
- To instill creativity in students, we as teachers can challenge them to bring solutions to different assumed problematic situations or even real life situations they experience on a daily basis
It is important to note that all these ideas are to be implemented by teachers, hence creativity in education can only be achieved once the instruments to instill creativity (teachers or educators) have equally received a proper training on how to create a conducive learning environment for the students and pushing them to exploit their potentials. This then brings us to our last but not least idea;
- Organising seminars all over the country and more specifically in remote areas(villages) to train actors of educational sector on technics appropriate and effective in stimulating creativity in students.
The ideas will have the following benefits;
- Improve on students psycological welbeing
- Give a future career perspective to students
- contribute to an improvement in the general performance of students
- the whole contry would benefit from a set of highly creative minds who can impact the future development level
In order for this idea to be successful and bring expected results, we will need the following resources;
- Human resource: Here we have to gather a team of educators and other professionals from diverse educational background with required skills in counseling and motivational talks, to inspire the children and push them to challenge themselves for greater output.
- Physical Resources; Equipment, Materials, Supplies, Facilities, and Infrastructure that would be utilized by the project such as didactic tools to captivate students, cars for the transportation of educators and students when necessary, laptops, other raquired materials to be use during idea fairs
- Financial Resources : Last but not the least we would need a budget allocated for the different expenditure lines that would result from implementing the idea and moving from one region to the other of the country and also internationally for a global impact.
My team consists of fifteen members of both sex. They are of varying educational background and professions. However being a teacher, and the idea being focused on students we decided to focus on people with pedagogic skills. Hence out of the fifteen members eight are secondary and primary school teachers. The remaining are entrepreneurs with business orientations, accountants, marketers and also agronomists.
Each member has the desire to partake in activities that will help to make a better future through improvement of skills. For this reason, participating in instilling creativity in kids is one of the many fascinating initiatives they would like to work on.
This phase involves the construction of the actual project result. the actual reorganisation takes place. It is during this phase that the project becomes visible to outsiders, to whom it may appear. At this point the project has just begun. The implementation phase is the doing phase, and it is important to maintain the momentum.
The team will have to have a clear definition of objectives to attain and how to achieve these goals. We will then proceed by sharing responsibilities among team members for greater and better output from each specialised member. The following tasks would be assigned to different members with corresponding deadlines;
- Coming up with a project plan, which is document that describes how the project will be executed, monitored, and controlled, and closed (JULY 2022)
- Identifying the schools where the team should go (August 2022)
- Informing the different ministries concerned and getting accreditation (August 2022)
- Creating a website specifically for the idea materialisation (July 2022)
- Getting in touch with Head of schools where we intend to operate and fixing appropriate dates (September 2022)
- Contact the different economic operators to be present at ideas fairs (date depending on each school program)
- Make necessary arrangements for special Prizes to be handed to best ideas (november 2022)
- Organise a final creativity competition amongst winners from different schools within a region and take the competition to a national level (May 2023)
We can then bring in an external specialist to take over his work and give us tips on how to better handle the project, in order to keep the team from grinding to a halt. The external expertise put a considerable dent in the budget but it is worth it.
At the end of the implementation phase, the result will be evaluated according to the list of requirements that was created in the definition phase.
The uniqueness of this idea is the fact that it can be adapted to any environment. The target audience is kids which makes it more interesting and important. The activities carried out to implement the idea would have to be varried to suit and adapt different cultures and environments such that the children will feel at ease to bring out their best performance.
The first region we would like to implement is the centre region of Cameroon specifically in three selected subdivisions with reperesentative schools both in the rural and urban areas
My educational background is diverse in psycopedagogie, finance, actuarial science and IT science. I believe it is within reach to implement such a project given my skills. I equally rely on my strong and diverse team to carry this project to success.
Technology is having a slow growth pace in our country but with the available resources such as laptops, projectors, smart phones and a good internet connection we would be able to perfectly carry out this project.
The economic plan will run for a 5 years period with a predetermined economic objective to impact; FULL EMPLOYMENT. Getting sponsors both fron Government and private sectors would be one of our main sustainability means given that the project is not cash rewarding and requires high expenses. Organising training sessions for the team twice a year to build our skills in order to have efficiency in work. Making the project known by using all online platforms and local medias like radio and TV stations.
